A client local to us was renovating their existing barn conversion and needed to replace the existing bulky half turn staircase.

The spiral was to access a walkway spanning between the study and the bedrooms. After many discussions with the client and builder it was agreed to opt of a mix between contemporary (to tie in with the new kitchen. Lighting and flooring downstairs) and traditional )to blend in with the existing oak beams on show.

The model 70 spiral staircase was selected with solid oak treads, centre column and handrail. We changed the spindles to brushed stainless steel to match the new landing balustrade we also supplied. This balustrade protected either side of the walkway and was constructed with brushed stainless posts and toughened glass infill panels.

The model 7o stunning spiral staircase is a custom made model. The solid hardwood treads are slid over a centre column consisting of cylindrical barrels which hide the steel core to the column and act as spacers between the treads.

The timber is always supplied as a hardwood with a choice of :- Beech, Oak, Ash, Maple, Birch, Walnut

The balustrade itself is in-filled by either :-Vertical Steel or timber Spindles, Horizontal steel rails, Curved acrylic panels, Curved Glass Panels or Curved Perforated Steel Panels. We have even supplied this model with a curved externals twisting stringer.

The handrail and newel posts on the Model 70 spiral staircase are made in timber to match the other elements. The timber is oiled, varnished or stained in the factory and sometime left untreated to be stained on site.

Each Model 70 spiral staircase supplied in unique. Each is carefully drawn to ensure the correct entry and exit point and sufficient headroom clearance. The system can accommodate a number of differently shaped platforms and the spiral is available in diameters up to 2200mm.
